Bert was a very big advocate for the IAL and WebWhispers. Bert was born in 1930 had his operation in 1988 and spoke exclusively with an excellent esophageal voice. He leaves behind his wife Cathy, daughter Karen, two sons CJ and Mark and a sister Clara.
After 13 plus good years Bert had a reoccurrence of cancer, receiving chemo and radioactive seeds could not save him this time.
Bert attended several IAL conventions the last one my wife and I were lucky enough to join up with him in Nashville. Everyone who knew Bert will miss his strength, generousity, and commitment to
fellow lary's.
Monday 9/9/02, his funeral was held at 11:00 am in his home town of North Haven Connecticut. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that donations be sent to the "Herbst Scholarship Fund at Southern Connecticut State University" for speech language pathology and communication disorders. Bert and I are both graduates from SCSU's speech program. The scholarship goes to teaching young SLP'S help future larys regain speech.
