SCSU Herbst Scholarship Fund


XZ The Southern Connecticut State University Robert F. and Lesley Lee Herbst Endowed Scholarship Fund has been established by Robert F. and Lesley Lee Herbst during April 2000. The scholarship fund shall assist students attending Southern Connecticut State University and studying in the field of Speech Language Pathology as outlined in the following criteria.

Scholarship Conditions

  • Each student must be enrolled in part-time or full-time graduate study at SCSU.
  • The student recipient must have a SCSU GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Recipients must be majoring in Speech Language Pathology programs. The contributions of the student to the University and the community will be considered.
  • The financial need of the applicants will be considered.
  • The allocated interest on the principal will be awarded annually whereas the original principal or subsequent gifts to the principal will never be awarded.
  • The Scholarship Committee of the Southern Connecticut State University Alumni Association, with the approval of the Director of the Communications Disorder, will select the student recipient. Robert F. and Lesley Lee Herbst will be notified of the recipients name after the award has been accepted.
  • Robert F. or Lesley Lee Herbst, or their designee may amend the conditions of the Scholarship at any time with the approval of the Scholarship Committee and the Board of Governors of the Southern Connecticut State University Foundation.
  • The scholarship award will be made directly to the Southern Connecticut State University Business Office and applied to the recipient outstanding bill.
  • In the event that the Speech Language Pathology programs are eliminated at the University, The SCSU Foundation Board of Governors, in consultation with Robert F. and Lesley Lee Herbst, will determine the allocation of all remaining funds in the Scholarship fund.
